Motorhomes, also known as RVs (recreational vehicles), are growing in popularity and are a great tool for having mobile freedom.
With a motorhome you don’t have to worry about finding a hotel room everywhere you go, or about renting cars or buying plane tickets. You basically take a small home with you. For many people, nothing beats that.
If you are a lover of the mobile lifestyle and want to travel while retaining some of the comforts of home, then a motorhome might be something for you to consider.
However, before you decide, it is important to understand some of the major different types of motorhomes. Motorhomes are generally divided into three categories: class A, class B, and class C.
Class A motorhomes are incredibly spacious and allow for various household amenities like washing and drying machines, a satellite dish, large screen TV, etc. They are also loaded with many types of high-end equipment and are designed for long trips or even permanent residence.
Class A motorhomes also include water tanks, onboard generators, back up batteries and other types of facilities that make travel very comfortable. However, class A motorhomes are the least mobile of the 3 classes in the sense that they can only drive on wide-lane highways due to their large size. They definitely can’t handle rough and rugged terrains.
Class B motorhomes are the medium size type and are generally considered the balance between class A and class C. Class B motorhomes are basically like a converted van and can accommodate a small family easily. They can also serve the purpose of a small residence for a couple, but are generally not used in this way.
Class B motorhomes are a great choice for a couple or small family who wants to take regular get-away road trips. They can also be driven on narrower roads and thus offer more mobility.
Class C motorhomes are the safest and smallest types of motorhomes and basically resemble a pick-up truck with an added compartment on the back. These motorhomes often offer seatbelts and airbags for all passengers and can comfortably accommodate a two or three person group. These are the most mobile type of motorhome and can be parked in practically any regular sized parking spot.
Motorhomes are a great way to implement comfortable road vacations and I hope that, after reading this article, you are more educated about the different motorhome options available to you.
